Street parties

How to apply for a road closure for a street party that celebrates a royal or national event, or to put on another type of community event.

We are now accepting applications for street parties to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day on 8th May 2025. You must submit your application by 30th April 2025. These parties can only take place between 8th and 11th May 2025.

What's involved

These events must be:

  • organised and funded by the applicant
  • in a residential road
  • no longer than three hours in duration - except for national events like VE Day celebrations when roads can be closed between 9am and 10pm
  • covered by £1m public liability insurance, paid for by the organiser
  • agreed by the residents of the street before you apply

Please note: We cannot close part of a major road or bus route.

How much?

In the case of the national events such as VE Day celebrations, we won't charge for the road closure notice or the barriers which manage traffic.

For all other community events, we will charge £3,025 (excluding VAT) for a road closure notice, and you must organise and pay for the barriers.
