Refer a child or young person for SENISS support

SENISS is a council SEND service that offers support for children and young people with SEND across mainstream nursery, primary and secondary schools or settings.

Who can make a referral?

If you are a SENDCo in any mainstream nursery, primary school, secondary school or setting, you can refer a child or young person.

Before you make a referral

Before making a referral, you must follow the steps below.

  1. Get an electronic copy of the pupil timetable, pupil profile and any other relevant documents, such as a report from an educational psychologist. to upload with your application.
  2. Gain consent to make the referral from the adult with parental responsibility for the child or young person.
  3. Share the SEND service privacy notice with the adult with parental responsibility so they understand how we use, store and share any personal data we collect.
  4. Explain the virtual offer to the adult with parental responsibility. SENISS may carry out meetings, consultations and assessments online. We call this the 'virtual offer'. During a virtual assessment, we observe children and young people working, playing and interacting with their peers and record these sessions. These videos are then stored electronically and securely, and deleted when the assessment process is complete. We also make sure we adhere to guidelines set by National Online Safety and the Liverpool School Improvement Safeguarding Team.
