Residential homes
All residential homes in Liverpool are run privately. The council no longer runs any residential homes.
Types of residential home
There are two types of residential home:
- Care homes have trained staff offering similar care to that you would receive from relatives and friends in your own home.
- Nursing homes provide the same level of care as care homes but also have trained nurses on duty to provide nursing care when you need it.
I am thinking of moving into a residential home
If you or someone you care for is thinking about making a residential home your permanent place of residence, complete an adult social care assessment.
- If you are already known to us and receive support services at home, we can arrange a review of your needs.
- If you are not already known to us and do not receive support services at home we will arrange a full care needs assessment.
In both instances, we can talk you through the assessment process and how to choose a home.
Find a care or nursing home
You can find all residential homes in Liverpool via the Care Quality Commission website. You can search for residential homes according to your needs, by location or whether you require nursing care.
Do I have to pay?
You may need to make a contribution towards the cost of living in a home, depending on your financial situation. We will arrange a financial assessment to establish what costs, if any, you will need to pay.
We will also make sure you are receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to. See paying for care homes for more information.
