Springwood Woodland scattering of ashes
If you wish to remember a loved one after cremation, scattering ashes in Springwood's woodland area is something you may be considering.
The woodland area is located in the Springwood Crematorium Garden of Remembrance. Ashes can be loosely scattered beneath the soil in a dedicated location, and commemorated with an engraved woodland post.
The inscription includes the name of the deceased and the date of death. It also features a tree emblem.
An example of how the post may look is below:
The lease term is 10 years, with the option to renew at the end of the lease period.
We select the location based on availability within the woodland, and the space will accommodate a second set of cremated remains which can be added at a later date.
Renewing the memorial
When the lease period is coming to an end, we will contact you to ask if you wish to renew it for a further 10 years, the associated costs and how to pay. If you do not wish to renew the memorial, the post will be removed from display.
Posts will also be removed at the end of the term if we are unable to contact you, or if you have not told us your contact details have changed.
Memorial costs
- Woodland strewing of ashes with inscribed wood post (10-year lease): £313
- Appointment fee to add a second set of ashes at a later date: £43 (£83 if the cremation took place in another local authority). This cost includes a second inscribed wood post.
- Additional or replacement inscribed wood post: £100
How to apply
The easiest and quickest way is to apply online. We won't take payment at this point.
Only the applicant for cremation can apply for cremated remains to be scattered. If the applicant for cremation cannot apply, you will need to tell us why.
Read our privacy notice which tells you how we use your data.
What happens next?
We will review your application and contact you within 5 working days with details of next steps.
Once we have received all the relevant paperwork, if needed, we will take your payment over the phone by debit/credit card or send you a link to pay online.
We will then arrange a suitable date and time to scatter the ashes and install the commemorative post.
We understand that the loss of a loved one is heartbreaking and very personal. Everyone who has a memorial within the grounds or visits to remember their loved one is suffering the same loss. We have certain rules, guidelines or requests to promote fairness, equality and respect for others. To avoid any upset, please read the terms and conditions for this memorial.
