Liverpool Standard Part 2 Qualification

All drivers must give an undertaking that they will pass the Liverpool Standard Part 2 course within 12 months of being granted their first taxi licence.

What does the course involve?

The Liverpool Standard Part 2 Qualification is the Road Passenger Vehicle Driving (Taxi and Private Hire) Level 2 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). During the course, a driver is asked to evidence their competence in the workplace and will also be observed by an NVQ assessor while working in their vehicle.

What happens if I have not passed?

We no longer issue temporary licences, so if your taxi licence is due to expire you must get in touch with a registered training provider and arrange to go on the course.

If your taxi licence has already expired, you will not be able to work as a taxi driver until you have completed the course and had your taxi licence renewal application fully processed and approved.

I have passed the course - what do I need to do?

Please email a scanned copy or clear photograph of your Certificate of Completion of the Liverpool Standard Part 2 Qualification to regulatory.licensing@liverpool.gov.uk.

We will update your file and notify you when you need to renew your licence.
