Community Right to Challenge

The Community Right to Challenge means that voluntary agencies, community groups, charities, and groups of two or more council employees can express an interest in bidding to run a particular council service.

If the expression of interest is valid, a competitive procurement exercise will then take place involving all other interested organisations.

This is solely concerned with the provision of services, and the responsibility for the function always remains with the council.

We work in a collaborative manner with the voluntary and community sector and are always keen to respond to innovative ideas from communities and providers.

If you would like to talk informally about the Community Right to Challenge and your ideas of how services might be improved, please contact the relevant service of the council.

There is a limited window of opportunity in June each year to apply under Community Right to Challenge.
