Updates to the Secretary of State
The Prime Minister has announced that a general election will be held on 4th July 2024. Following the general election, it will be for the next Government to make future decisions regarding the Best Value intervention. This means that, as of the 9th June 2024, Commissioner appointments and the Best Value intervention at Liverpool City Council will cease. This page will be updated with final documents in due course.
Progress reports
Since they started on 22nd June 2021, the Commissioners have provided the Secretary of State with regular progress reports. Please see these reports below.

- Published 19th August 2022: Commissioners' second report to the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of State's response to commissioners.
- Published 8th March 2023: Commissioners' third report to the Secretary of State.
- Published 13th December 2023: Commissioners' fourth report to the Secretary of State.
- Published 8th May 2024: Commissioners' fifth report to the Secretary of State.
