Statutory intervention expiry notice

The statutory intervention at Liverpool City Council ended when the directions and commissioner appointments expired on 9th June 2024. At this point, the council set up an independent Improvement and Assurance Board to ensure focus is maintained on continued improvement. The commissioner pages are no longer being updated.

Updates to the Secretary of State

The Prime Minister has announced that a general election will be held on 4th July 2024. Following the general election, it will be for the next Government to make future decisions regarding the Best Value intervention. This means that, as of the 9th June 2024, Commissioner appointments and the Best Value intervention at Liverpool City Council will cease. This page will be updated with final documents in due course.

Since they started on 22nd June 2021, the Commissioners have provided the Secretary of State with regular progress reports. Please see these reports below.
