Neighbourhood managers have been recruited for all 13 neighbourhoods and have built connections with communities and partners. Teams around the neighbourhood are working towards delivering action plans and priorities and a delivery group has been established to embed neighbourhood working;
A Housing Strategy was approved by Cabinet in December 2024 setting out the ambitions for improving the city’s housing offer and addressing nationwide housing emergencies that some residents are experiencing;
Since May 2023, more than 4,500 homes have been approved, around 19% of which are affordable;
Cabinet agreed several recommendations to improve the delivery of enforcement activity following a review. An internal environmental enforcement team has been recruited and an external enforcement provider appointed to provide additional resource;
Progress has been made in making neighbourhoods cleaner and greener. Since March 2023 requests for street cleansing are down by more than a quarter and missed bin collections are down by 42%;
The 2024-2027 CitySafe Plan was developed with partners and approved by Cabinet in Sep 2024. Priorities include tackling violence against women and girls and serious violence. Overall crime has fallen by 15% since March 2023; and
Spellow Community Hub and Library reopened just four months after the arson attack during the riots in summer 2024. Significant community engagement and partnership working was undertaken for the launch of the refurbished hub and library and it received international media coverage.
