Healthier lives for children and adults

  • Improvements made through the adult social care transformation programme are evident and satisfaction with adult social care has increased by nearly 10% since March 2023;
  • The adult social care contact pathway has been streamlined to make it easier for people to be directed to the most appropriate support to meet their needs and different methods are provided to contact Adult Social Care;
  • LCC has worked closely with Liverpool University Hospital and Merseycare Foundation Trusts to deliver a system-wide plan to improve Urgent and Emergency Care that provides better outcomes for people on discharge from acute hospital settings and to support people to stay in the community longer;
  • Children and Young People’s Services received positive feedback following an Ofsted inspection in December 2024. The inspection report highlighted the significant progress made noting more manageable caseloads, enabling staff to deliver even better outcomes for the young people we support;
  • Five Family Hubs have been launched across the city focusing on parenting support, early education, infant feeding, and perinatal mental health and a start for Life Programme has been co-produced with parents, that provides all the information a parent needs to know a child turns 2;
  • Increased direct provision of residential care placements for children by opening Sandfield Lodge children’s home which received a positive visit from Ofsted and DfE funding has been secured to support the opening of another children’s home, Longmoor;
  • Liverpool was announced as a Marmot City in April 2025 by Sir Michael Marmot at an event in April 2025. A report was produced with key actions for what the council will do as a Marmot City and progress will be reported to the Health and Wellbeing Board;
  • A Health 2040 action plan was developed and reported on to the Health and Wellbeing Board following the launch of the report in January 2024. The report has also heavily influence the Liverpool Strategic Partnership new Liverpool 2040 Framework; and
  • In October 2024 Liverpool hosted the International Health Cities Congress at the Spine which focuses on how we improve health and wellbeing through our built environment. At the Conference the LCC planning and Public health teams won an award for our approach to Health in All Policies.
