Pests and infestation

Find out how to arrange a pest control visit, how much you will need to pay and how to get further advice and help.

The pests we deal with

You can request a pest control visit if you have problems with:

  • Rats — inside or outside your property
  • Mice — inside your property only
  • Wasps — inside your property or in an area of land attached to it
  • Ants — inside your property only

We aim to deal with your request within five working days, or 24 hours for rats inside a property - excluding the loft.

Please note that officers only bait around the perimeter of a loft hatch and do not enter lofts as this is not necessary when carrying out such treatments.

Book a pest control appointment

To book a pest control appointment, please call 0151 233 3001.

We must receive your request by 1pm on the day before we visit your area. During periods of high volumes of work this deadline may be brought forward so you should book your appointment as soon as you are able.

We aim to deal with your request within five working days, or 24 hours for rats inside a property - excluding the loft.

Do I have to pay?

Treatments for seasonal pests take place from 1st July to 31st October. All payments taken outside these dates will not be eligible for a refund.

  • Wasps inside your property or in an area of land attached to it, or ants nests inside your property only - £65.72 for a single treatment, or £97.52 for more than one nest.
Payment is taken on booking. If we come out to you and a treatment is not needed, or a wasps' nest turns out to be a bees' nest (see information on Honeybees below), we will refund the fee, minus a £20 call out charge. Please note we do not remove dead wasp nests.
  • Treatment of rats and mice - free for occupiers of domestic properties in Liverpool. All appointments must be booked by occupiers. Where a property is a single tenancy but occupied by a number of unrelated housemates who are not a family unit, a charge will be made.
  • Multi-tenanted properties - a charge would be applicable for the treatment of all common parts of a building. You should contact your landlord or managing agent for assistance.

Further information

You can download advice leaflets on how to deal with:

Honeybees and bee swarms

Contrary to popular belief bees aren't protected and can be treated, however they are endangered so we'd always recommend exploring all other avenues before considering eradication. For more information please visit The British Pest Control Association website.

For help with finding out if you have a swarm of honeybees, visit the British Beekeepers Association website which tells you what to do and how to find a swarm collector.

Urban foxes

We are not responsible for the removal of urban foxes. Please see the RSPCA website for useful information on how to deal with foxes in your garden.

We do not deal with bats. For information, help and advice about bats please contact the Bats Conservation helpline on 0845 1300 228 or visit the Bats Conservation Trust website.
