Movement for Health
Move more, feel better and improve your health.
Movement for Health is a 12-week physical activity programme for people who may be at increased risk of developing heart and circulatory disease. This could be because you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, prediabetes or other factors that may affect your heart health.
The programme is designed to help you become more active, improve your health and reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease in the future. Your GP can refer you to the programme, and we'll work with you to create an activity plan tailored to your health, individual needs and goals.
How can being more active help?
There is a strong link between physical activity and good health. Whatever your starting point, small changes can make a big difference. Regular physical activity can help you to:
- improve your heart and circulatory health
- manage your weight
- build strength and stamina
- improve flexibility and balance
- have more energy
- sleep better
- reduce stress and improve your mood
- maintain your independence and make everyday activities easier
- reduce your risk of developing a range of long-term health conditions
Getting active doesn't mean you have to run a marathon. The important thing is finding activities that are right for you and building them into your life in a way that feels achievable.
What does the programme include?
Our Health and Wellbeing Team will work with you to develop a personalised programme based on your health, individual needs and goals.
Your 12- week programme includes:
- a review of your medical history and your needs
- personalised induction and goal setting session
- a structured physical activity plan tailored to you
- regular check-ins to review progress, update your routine and discuss any challenges
