Plan making in Liverpool

All local authorities are required to produce a Local Plan with the aim of providing a more flexible planning system that adapts to changing priorities and which seeks to secure sustainable development. It is shaped by the National Planning Policy Framework.

• Liverpool Local Plan 2043 We are updating the current plan, which covers the city until 2033. The new Local Plan will support the city's growth and regeneration until 2043.
• Liverpool Local Plan 2013–2033 The Local Plan was adopted on the 26th January 2022 and sets out the policies we will use to decide planning applications in Liverpool.
• Local Plan supplementary documents and guidance View the documents which we will use to inform decisions on planning applications alongside the Local Plan.
• Neighbourhood planning Neighbourhood planning gives communities power to develop a shared vision for new sustainable development.
• Evidence, monitoring and information Land availability lists, national, regional, sub-regional and Liverpool documents, SHLAA and SHMA.
• Authority's monitoring report The Authority's Monitoring Report monitors and reviews the effectiveness of planning policies and proposals.
• Local Development Scheme Sets out the council's timetable for producing the Local Plan, and which Local Plan documents we propose to use.
• Statement of Community Involvement This sets out how the council involves people in the development of planning policies and applications.
• Infrastructure funding statement (IFS) We must publish an infrastructure funding statement annually in accordance with the government's Community Infrastructure Levy Regulation 121A.
