Support from an advocate
When making decisions about your care you may want someone to speak up for you if you do not have a family member or friend to support you.
If you need support you can use an advocate - someone who offers independent support.
Advocates can be present when you attend meetings or assessments. They can also speak to us on your behalf.
An advocate can support you if you find it hard to understand or remember information, or if you can't express your wishes or feelings. They can also help you to:
- make decisions about your care
- get the right help and support
- challenge the council if you do not agree with a decision.
Who can get an advocate?
If you are receiving support from us and do not have a family member or friend who can help, you can get support from an advocate.
