How we assess care and support needs
- Care Act eligibility We refer to the Care Act eligibility to determine if a person is eligible for support. The decision-making process is based on a number of specified outcomes.
- Request an assessment If you or someone you know is eligible for support under the Care Act, an assessment will help us decide what the next steps should be.
- What happens during an assessment? An adult social care assessment can help us decide what kind of support somebody might benefit from, if eligible under the Care Act.
- Adult social care service standards If you receive a social care service you can expect a number of service standards including dignity in care, quality and safety, and communication.
- Deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS) DoLS provides legal protection for vulnerable people in hospital or a care home.
- Mental capacity and decision-making The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) protects a person's money, health and welfare, if they can't make all their own decisions.
