Leaseholders

Information for leaseholders and solicitors when buying, selling or sub-letting property where the council is landlord.

Issue a notice of assignment

Transactions such as sales, sub-lettings and charges (re-mortgages) need a notice of assignment, sub-letting or transfer and/or charge being served to us, as landlord.

Ask for consent to issue a notice of assignment

Before you issue a notice of assignment, sub-letting or charge on a leasehold property, you may need to ask the council for consent.

Selling your leasehold property

If you’re selling a leasehold property where the council is the landlord, you can request a pre-assignment, or seller’s pack (LPE1). This will contain the information you need to sell your property.
