Changes to licences involving animals
On 1st October 2018, new laws come into force which will significantly change the way activities involving animals are licensed and regulated. Find out more
You’ll need a zoo licence if you’ll be displaying wild animals to the public for at least 7 days a year, in any place that’s not a circus or pet shop.
How to apply
You can apply and pay online for a new or renewal licence.
When we have received your application and fee we will arrange to carry out the relevant inspections to make sure your premises meet the required standards.
If you are making a new application you will need to appear before the council’s Licensing Committee.
- The fee to grant a licence is £1760 and is valid for 4 years.
- The fee to renew a licence is £892 and is valid for 6 years.
