Christmas opening hours

Opening and closing times for our core services in Liverpool over the festive period, December 2025 to January 2026.

One Stop Shops

Closed for face-to-face appointments from Monday 22nd December 2025 until Friday 2nd January 2026. Some telephone appointments will be available.

Contact Centre

  • Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th and 31st December 2025: 9am-4.30pm
  • Thursday 1st January 2026: Closed
  • Friday 2nd January 2026: 9am-4.30pm

Social care

Adult and children's social care will remain open 24/7 for enquiries and referrals over the festive period, including Christmas Day.

Libraries

All branch libraries will open as usual until Christmas Eve. They will then close until Monday 5th January 2026 with the exceptions of the libraries listed below.

  • Monday 29th December 2025: Central Library, Allerton and Norris Green open 10am-4.30pm. All other libraries are closed. 
  • Tuesday 30th December 2025: Central Library, Allerton and Norris Green open 10am-4.30pm. All other libraries are closed. 
  • Wednesday 31st December 2025: Central Library, Allerton and Norris Green open 10am-4.30pm. All other libraries are closed. 
  • Thursday 1st January 2026: New Year’s Day all libraries are closed.
  • Friday 2nd January 2026: Central Library, Allerton and Norris Green open 10am-4.30pm. All other libraries are closed. 
  • Saturday 3rd January 2025: Central Library, Allerton and Norris Green open 10am-4pm. All other libraries are closed. 

Lifestyles Centres

Adult Learning Centres

  • Norris Green is closed from Monday 15th December 2025 until Monday 5th January 2026.
  • Park Road and Newsham are closed from Monday 22nd December 2025 until Monday 5th January 2026.
  • Granby Street is closed from Wednesday 24th December 2025 and re-opens on Monday 5th January 2026.

Bins and recycling collections

Check your bin collection dates for the Christmas holiday period using our postcode look-up. Stickers have also been placed on your bins showing your revised collection dates over Christmas and the New Year.

You can recycle your real Christmas tree at one of our drop off points in January 2026.

Online services

While many of our services are closed over the holidays, don't forget you can still report many issues online.

If you need to report an urgent issue, for example, something that poses a danger to health and safety, call us on our usual customer numbers and you'll hear further advice on what to do.
