What you can do to find a home
Before you consider making a housing referral, we expect you to do all you can to find yourself somewhere to live. We'll be looking to see if you have explored all options open to you.
Search for private rented accommodation
Use websites such as Rightmove and Zoopla to search for rented accommodation.
Find out more about renting from a private landlord or letting agent (shelter.org.uk).
See what benefits you may apply for
You may be able to apply for housing benefit to help pay your rent or discretionary housing payments.
See the Local Housing Allowance rates to work out how much housing benefit you might get.
Join the housing register
Sign up for social housing via Property Pool Plus.
Ask for support from friends and family
If we do need to assess your housing needs we'll be looking to see if you have explored all options open to you.
Who has priority need?
If you are generally healthy and do not have children living with you, you will not be seen as having a priority need for a housing referral.
How we can help
If you are at risk of homelessness or legally homeless and have not already done so, please make a housing referral now.
