Computer use
You must be a member to use library computers.
You must also agree to the libraries public computers code of conduct when logging on.
Login
Once you receive your membership card, you can log on with your membership card and pin number. If you have forgotten your PIN, speak to a member of staff.
Software
The computers come with a range of software, including:
- Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Magnifier
- Scanning, printing and network reference information.
You will need to bring your own headphones as our computers do not have speakers. Advise staff at the time of booking if you have any access requirements.
Computer sessions
You can book a computer in advance. To book a slot call your local library.
Computer sessions are for one hour. In accordance with our fair use policy, and subject to availability, customers may be able to extend their one-hour session up to a maximum of three hours a day. Please ask a member of staff for further information during your visit.
All public computers at Liverpool Central Library are available as walk up access, subject to availability. There is no requirement to make an advanced reservation.
The public computer network at Central Library shuts down automatically 30 minutes before the library closes.
Saving your work
You can save work on the computer for the duration you are using it. Files will then be deleted to comply with Data Protection. You can also use your own USB or email items to yourself.
Printing charges
All libraries offer black and white A4 and A3 printing and colour A4 and A3 printing. See fees and charges page for details.
Free Wi-Fi areas
There are free Wi-Fi areas in all libraries. There is no time limit for the Wi-Fi.
You don't need to be a library member to use the free Wi-Fi.
Computer security
All our libraries have antivirus software that is regularly updated firewalls to prevent software being installed on our network and filtering software to block obscene, offensive or insecure content on the internet
Hygiene measures
- Hand gel and handwashing facilities are available.
- Use of gloves is optional, but you must provide your own.
- Eating and drinking is not allowed at the PC workstations.
