Processing permit applications

Your permit will be issued within 28 days as long as you have submitted the required supporting documentation with your application - please don't call to check on its progress. We will reject applications if the required documents are missing.

Please note: The BQ (Business Quarter) refers to a small area within the Inner Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). Residents within this zone are eligible for a resident permit which allows parking between 5:00 pm and 9:00 am, Monday to Friday, and all day on weekends and Bank Holidays. Parking outside of these permitted hours is subject to the applicable pay-and-display charges. This arrangement reflects the principle of city-centre living, where access to daily amenities and public transport is intended to reduce the need for private vehicle use. Visitor permits are not issued for this zone.

Request a replacement parking permit

If you have lost your permit or it has been damaged or stolen you can request a replacement. You can also request a replacement if you have changed your registration or replaced your vehicle.

A £32 administration fee will be charged to issue a replacement.

If the permit has been stolen we will issue a duplicate free of charge if you provide a valid crime reference number, details of the police officer or station, and the relevant contact number.

Resident and business permits are valid for a period of 12 months. You can amend the permit in the 12-month period - all amendments cost £32.
