ESOL - English for speakers of other languages

Course contents
This course is for speakers of other languages who want to improve their independence, confidence and ability to participate in everyday life in the UK.
You will learn speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course involves classroom work, homework and independent study. Our courses have some digital learning but there are no full-time online classes.
Entry requirements
Your initial interview will identify any additional learning and support needs, and an assessment will ensure you are put in a class at the right level. These levels are Pre-Entry, Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.
You will need to have some digital skills to work online, laptop, smart phone, or tablet. We may be able to help you with these. You will need a folder to keep your work in.
Where can I progress to?
Following successful completion of this course you may be able to progress to the next level ESOL course or FE and university courses. We also offer IELTS courses and support in moving to vocational courses, volunteering and employment.
How much?
This course is free if you are in receipt of certain benefits or earning less than £35,864. You will need to bring your proof of this and your ID when you are invited to enrol.
