Book a registrar for your ceremony

All civil weddings and civil partnerships must be attended by a Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar in the district where the ceremony will take place.  If your ceremony is at an approved venue in Liverpool or Liverpool Register Office, this will be the district of Liverpool.

Please note that your provisional booking simply retains a time slot for a Registrar to attend your ceremony. Your marriage or civil partnership cannot take place until your notices have been given.

How to book

Our online provisional booking service allows you to check our availability and reserve a time slot for the Superintendent Registrar and Registrar to conduct your ceremony, up to two years in advance.

When you select a date all available time slots will show for your chosen venue. If your preferred time is not free you can check other available dates before making your payment.

What does the booking include?

  • For ceremonies taking place at the Register Office in St George’s Hall, your booking includes the ceremony room and the attendance of the registrars.
  • For ceremonies taking place in all other venues (including non-register office rooms at St George’s Hall) your booking is for the attendance of the registrars only. You must also book a ceremony room at the venue of your choice.
  • For ceremonies taking place in a religious building your booking includes the attendance of the Registrar only. You must also contact the religious building to confirm your booking with them.

A provisional booking reservation fee of £45 is payable at the time of booking. You can pay by credit or debit card. This is non-refundable and does not form part of the ceremony fee.

Confirmation of bookings

Once you have submitted your application and paid the relevant fee you will receive an email confirming your requested time slot has been reserved.

Nearer the time of your ceremony, we will email you and ask you to confirm your final ceremony choices and make your final payment.
