English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
Classes for adults aged 19+ who do not have English as their first language.
ESOL classes practise reading, writing and speaking and listening to support life in the UK. They also look at grammar and punctuation at each level. These classes can help you with finding a job, being part of a community and teach you employability skills. They also help you learn about Britain, it’s laws, values, diversity and culture.
We run courses from Beginners to Level 1. Most of these classes are exam classes and you will be entered for exams when your tutor feels you are ready.
These classes are not free for everyone but may be free if you receive certain benefits. If you are unemployed, please see your Job Centre Plus adviser. They can make an appointment for you at one of our centres.
How to apply
If you want to join any of these courses you will need to complete a skills check first. This will help us to place you in the right class.
