English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
Classes for adults aged 19+ who do not have English as their first language.
ESOL classes practise reading, writing and speaking and listening to support life in the UK. They also look at grammar and punctuation at each level. These classes can help you with finding a job, being part of a community and teach you employability skills. They also help you learn about Britain, it’s laws, values, diversity and culture.
We run courses from Beginners to Level 1. Most of these classes are exam classes and you will be entered for exams when your tutor feels you are ready.
How much?
These courses are free of charge if you are unemployed or earn less than £33,958 a year. Please see your Job Centre Plus adviser who can make an appointment for you at one of our centres.
How to enquire about a course
If you are unemployed, you need to be referred by your Job Centre Plus adviser. This will help us to place you in the right class.
All our ESOL classes are currently full. We do still have places on our Catering - Hospitality and Catering Skills (for ESOL) - Entry 1. Please see our listed courses for more information.
Your timetable will be given to you after your initial assessment. We will do our best to accommodate your work and family commitments.
