Register for Council Tax
If you’re new to Liverpool or liable to pay Council Tax for the first time, let us know so we can set up your account.
You can do this online no more than 14 days before you move in, or up to 60 days after. If your move happened more than 60 days ago, please contact us instead.
- We’ll ask a series of questions about your new address to set up your account.
- We’ll also need an email address and contact number in case we need to get in touch.
- You’ll also be able to apply for single person discount at the same time, if this is applicable to you.
- You can opt in to receive your bills by email instead of post when you register.
When you enter the system, choose the address services under 'Register for Council Tax or tell us that you've moved home'.
What happens next?
When you register online, we’ll send you your Council Tax reference number by email. Once you have a reference number you can start paying your Council Tax.
Unless you have chosen to receive your bills by email during registration, you will get your Council Tax bill through the post.
We’ll also provide you with an online key so you can access your account online, view payment history, and view copies of any letters we’ve sent you and a breakdown of payments and charges.
