Council Tax discount for care leavers

If you have been in the care of Liverpool City Council and are leaving care, you may be entitled to a reduction in Council Tax until you reach the age of 25. The amount of reduction may be up to 100% depending on the number of people who live with you.

The reduction will apply from 1st April 2017 or whenever you became liable to pay Council Tax if after this date.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this discount you must have been in the care of Liverpool City Council for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14 and in care on your 16th birthday.

If you're a care leaver and no longer live in Liverpool, you may still be eligible for the discount - we'll just need a copy of your current Council Tax bill as part of the application process.
