Council Tax exemption for foster carers

If you're a registered foster carer who has been appointed from Liverpool City Council's in-house pool of foster carers, you may be eligible for a 100% Council Tax reduction if you are:

  • A foster carer who is actively fostering
  • A foster carer who is actively available to foster
  • A newly registered foster carer who has had a child in placement for 7 days
  • A foster carer who has a young person remaining with them after reaching the age of 18 under a 'staying-put arrangement' will remain entitled to the 100% Council Tax reduction. This will continue until the person being cared for reaches the age of 21.
