LED lights
We have LED street lights in the Liverpool area. This cuts our costs and saves thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions.
Why we use LED street lights
Where we have street lights coming to the end of their structural life, we replace them with LED lights. These street lights operate more efficiently, save energy, need less maintenance, and reduce costs in the long term.
Energy efficient
LED street lights are much more energy efficient, using 40% to 80% less electricity than traditional lighting. They convert more of the power they use into light, which helps reduce our energy costs and cuts down on wasted energy. This change supports our commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2030.
Durable
LED street lights are durable. They have a longer life span, often lasting as long as 20 -25 years. Compared to three or four years of traditional lights. Meaning less maintenance, further contributing to long-term cost savings.
Targeted light
LED street lights shine their light directly downwards onto roads and pavements. This will minimise light spill into homes, gardens, and the night sky. Reducing disturbance to wildlife, and improving the visibility of stars.
The new lights have a brighter, whiter light. Which renders colours better, compared to the yellowish glow of traditional sodium lamps. This will enhance visibility for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians at night. Potentially reducing accidents and improving road safety.
